Alhamdulillah, we delivered maktab benches to an Islamic Institute based in London. Following the easing of lockdown restrictions imposed due to the Covid pandemic, the Institute moved away from online lessons and re-commenced traditional face-to-face teaching having moved into new premises. This particular Institute provides Islamic education for teenagers and adults with the aim of developing them into Islamic scholars. Students typically spend 6-8 years at the Institute studying Arabic and various Islamic sciences, including Quran, Hadith, Tafseer, Fiqh and Tajweed, among others.
Following the recommencement of face-to-face teaching in their new premises, students and teachers were in need of benches to facilitate studies. An anonymous donor provided just over £250 (as well as Gift Aid, Jazakallah Khair!) to pay for 36 maktab benches. The donations were made to the “Quran & Distribution Fund” option on our website. Although the fund is primarily for distributing Quran and Islamic books, the donor wanted this money to be utilised for the purposes of providing maktab benches. This contribution fell under the remit of the fund, namely, sustaining Islamic Education, and is a blessed form of Sadaqah Jariyah.
Alhamdulillah, the maktab benches are already being utilised by students of knowledge and scholars for lessons in Arabic and Islamic Sciences. Every time a student or teacher uses the benches for teaching and learning the sacred sciences, the donors share in the rewards.
